About me

I am a Professor in the Institute of Algebra and Geometry at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology working on topology, geometric and measurable group theory, and $\ell^2$-invariants.

Together with Claudio Llosa Isenrich and Elia Fioravanti, I run a weekly research seminar at KIT on topology and geometric group theory.

Since 2016, I am the speaker of the DFG-funded graduate school RTG 2229 Asymptotic Invariants and Limits of Groups and Spaces, run by KIT and Heidelberg University.

I am also active in the DFG-funded Priority Program SPP 2026 Geometry at Infinity.

I serve on the editorial boards for Geometry&Topology, Mathematische Annalen, and Manuscripta mathematica.

I am currently working with with Wolfgang Lück and Thomas Schick on a book project on L²-invariants. We are grateful for comments on the current version.

In the second half of 2026 a thematic semester on Analytic group theory at the Lodha Institute in Mumbai, India, will take place. I am one of the organizers. If you are interested, feel free to contact me.
